Welcome to our jewelry making community: imagine, create, share, & inspire!

I made jewelry every day for a few months straight. I LOVE making jewelry. But I am have hit a wall. I never had to think about what i was going to make before i just picked up my supplies and the jewelry made itself. What are some things any of you have used to over come these issues if you have ever had them.

I always find tghat a walk in natural settings will start inspiration flowing.
All of the gorgeous colors, textures, finds( just made a pendant with a large petrified nut I found one day a couple of years ago).
I also agree that sometimes you just have to wait for an aha moment:)

I really enjoyed what Claire stated that do other things and refocus... I can just dive and overwork into jewelry making and designing and but other enjoyable things in life take me away and always bring me back with a few more ideas and motivation and dedication to continue.

I think all of us hit a wall at times. I use to think it was a bad thing but now it means I should enjoy other things...family, lunch with friends, shopping, cleaning - just things that I also enjoy. Look around your house - is there something that needs redecorating - do that. Creative inspiration will return when it should.

I have been in a design rut for a few months now. It seems like I always hit one right around the end of summer before Fall is official. I kind of think it is part of that "I don't want to make summer colored items but am not ready for fall colors either yet" rut since I seem to run into this every year. I browse through my jewelry books and magazines and even pick up my other neglected but loved crafts during this time period. My jewelry making urge and creativity always seems to "come back when it's ready". Hope this helps. --- Leigh

I find my creative inspiration comes and goes in waves and I can't really force it. But, when I hit a wall, I will go get some fashion and beading magazines, or surf sites online like 1000markets.com and etsy.com to see what other people are making and it usually sparks new ideas. On the other hand, I don't force it--if it isn't a good day to design, it isn't...it will come back.
