Crystal Framed Earrings Project Idea

This was one of the pieces I made on the last "jewelry making retreat" with my friend :-)

Supplies List
14kt gold filled wire (half hard)
Swarovski crystals
Crystal briolette beads
Earwires (I used leverbacks)

Shape your frames using an object like a small bottle to make a consistent size and shape. I actually used by flat nose pliers to form the bottom of each frame, then wrapped wire at the top forming an oblong loop shape with a flat bottom. At the top, I wrapped the wire with a closed loop, and attached it to an earring component with a crystal bead at the top.

Add the beads to your frame: Cut a long length of wire, and begin wrapping it around the top of the frame a couple of times to attach it to the frame. Add a crystal bead. Hold the bead in place with your fingers on the outside of the frame, and wrap the wire several times around and through the frame to secure the bead in place. Repeat the process of adding beads, wrapping, adding beads, wrapping--until you have made it all the way around the frame, "studding" it with crystals on the outside. Repeat on the second earring frame, paying close attention to make sure you add the same number of beads in the same place on the frame so they match.

Add the briolette: Cut another length of wire, and secure it to one side at the top of the frame by wrapping the wire a couple of times around the frame. Slide the briolette bead onto that wire, then wrap the tail of the wire a couple times around the other side of the frame.

Cut another length of wire, and wrap it around the top of your earring a few times, the down to cover the top part of your earring. This step is optional, but I liked the way it looked. :-)

Have fun and I hope you enjoyed this earrings project!
