Welcome to our jewelry making community: imagine, create, share, & inspire!

Hi All,

I don't know about everyone else but I find myself forgetting that sometimes simple and elegant is better - especially when it comes to bracelets. Here recently I have begun to make bracelets - It is HOT here in TN and I have no desire to wear a necklace in this humidity - so I did what I always do and browsed the internet looking for ideas and inspiration for bracelet designs. I found the designs above at BeadFx.com and love their simplicity - so I thought I would share. Here is a link to the inspiration page at BeadFx: http://www.beadfx.com/inspirations/inspirations.php

These are great, thanks for sharing Leigh! :-) So for those who are looking for design tips, what makes each of these so nice to look at? I think one of the secrets to improving our jewelry designs is to try more variation. And as Leigh points out, simple and elegant works! Variation does not have to mean overly complicated, it just means don't be too stagnant in your design. Try to use at least two design elements. For example: In these bracelet designs, they use both small beads and large beads to break up a boring pattern of a string of beads that are all the same size (a common mistake I still make myself), and they add matte and shiny in the form of surface textures, and they vary the shapes. And, they all use a nice clasp. Study these bracelets, then look at your pile of beads, and see what you can whip up that uses similar design concepts!
