"I love wire work can't do but love"
Aug 30, 2009

Profile Information

Why are you visiting?
I'm looking for project ideas
What is your favorite type of jewelry to make?
Necklaces/Pendants
Tell us about yourself! What makes you interesting, unique, funny, talented, or...?
I'm a retired teacher. I taught Reading, Health and Physical Education. I'm also a retired referee( basketball, volleyball and softball) I refereed for 33 years and ended up being the first woman official to be inducted into the Ohio High School Hall of Fame. I played basketball, and softball until I turned 50 and decided that my reflexes had retired too.
I've written 7 novels; 2-YA, and 5 romantic suspense. None are published, biggest reason, I haven't sent out any proposals(3 chapters with a synopsis and cover letter)
I like to knit, crochet, write, play golf, travel with my husband (our 6 kids are out of the nest), babysit with our 9 grandchildren, and make jewelry.
My most unique feature is my size. I'm 6'3" and enjoy being so tall...now. Can't sneak anywhere.
I sculpt jewelry with wire and enjoy making new designs.
My website is:
http://www.sculptedjewelrybyginny.com
What is your favorite jewelry making style or medium?
semi-precious beads, gemstone beads, wirework
What best describes your style?
sophisticated, unique, one-of-a-kind
What are your favorite colors in making jewelry?
My favorite colors are all colors. The stones of the Earth are exquisite. I can't get enough of the different colorations in the gemstones and polished precious stones. Hope I never go blind.
What are your favorite beads and stones for making jewelry?
I find turquoise, onyx, all the agates, jaspers, fascinating to work with. Large precious and semi-precious gemstones are a favorite because they are so easy to sculpt into Regal Pendants. I totally agree with you when you say, Jewelry is about projecting an image, and a form of personal self-expression. Nice comment!

Let me know what questions you have...I could go on and on about this subject but at least wanted to get started.

Miriam, I'm impressed. Your necklaces are beautiful. I've done a few necklaces using 32 and 28 gage wire with stone chips. Fun to do.

Oh yes, website traffic! There are ways you can bring traffic to your site, but most people really don't know how, or their site doesn't fit the formula (which generally involves writing lots of content which isn't what most sales sites are about), so a vast majority of sites don't get visited, which is too bad. I should write a whole series on this...it would help everyone at least understand.

There are a couple of men on here. This part of the site is new (one month) so I'll bet more will show up as we get more members. Your designs are great, thanks for sharing the photos. I will put some wire projects on here in the next few weeks, I have done a little less wire since metal is so expensive lately. Enjoy the weekend.

Hi Ginny. Your designs are beautiful. Nice to see another Ohioan here! I am orginally from the Buckeye state. I also enjoy crocheting. I have done minimal wirework, but, the little I have done, I find it to be a great medium to express individuality.
