Welcome to our jewelry making community: imagine, create, share, & inspire!

As you probably noticed, my postings here on the blog have dropped off a bit of late. My excuse is simple: summertime in my hometown of Portland, Oregon is brief and utterly perfect. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we get about 6-9 solid months of rain starting in October and sometimes lasting until July! So, when summer comes, we are like bears coming out of hibernation and we get out there and live like there is no tomorrow. I spent both of the past two weekends living it up with friends in trips to the Oregon Coast. The first trip was something of a jewelry making retreat. My friend from Ohio came out, and we drove out to Cannon Beach Oregon, where...in between trips to the beach...we holed up in our hotel room and made jewelry like crazy. We had so much fun! I have lots of photos and projects to share but have not been at my computer long enough to upload them. Now that it is September (already?!), I can see many more indoor days coming where I can get back to the computer and into my crafting...including jewelry making of course! Last weekend I went to another Oregon coastal town, this time Newport, Oregon, where I was bridesmaid in my friend's wedding. I made all the wedding jewelry, including the bridal necklace, which I must say turned out to be a stunning concoction of smoky topaz, blue topaz, and Swarovski crystals. I will share photos of it soon, I promise :-) Thanks to all the members of this site for keeping things going and helping each other out, and of course for sharing all your photos and inspiration. Keep it coming! More free jewelry making projects and ideas are coming soon.

Best regards,
-Lorri

Good to hear that you had a wonderful summer, i would love to visit Oregon one day, if I ever get away from my 9 - 9 job. I am hear to read that someone is also working with the smokey topaz, blue topaz as well as my self. I can wait to see what you have created over the summer break
Tanisha, thanks so much for the kind note. I would love to meet in person one day, so if you ever do make it out here, let me know :-)
